Super simple socks
These are some great basic toe-up socks with a ribbing across the top of the foot for some extra snugness of fit. If you want to try making socks they are a good first pattern–the larger gauge means they will work up very quickly (they’ll also be very thick and warm!).

Details
Sizing: Women’s M (L), fits US sizes 7-9(10-12)
Finished circumference around foot is 8 (8.5)”, finished leg length is 12 (13)”, slightly less than knee-high.
Yarn: 335 (390) yards DK weight wool. Socks shown use two balls of Reynolds Whiskey (195 yards/50g)
Needles: #4 US DPNs (or size to obtain gauge), #3 US DPNs
Gauge: 22 sts and 36 rows =4″ in stockinette stitch.

This pattern uses a figure-eight cast-on to start the toe of the sock. While this cast-on is not too difficult once you have the hang of it, that initial hang-getting can be tricky. You might find some of the following links useful if you have not tried a figure-eight before:
