Sorry, it’s really impossible to come up with any kind of decent post heading for a sock. Especially a boring vanilla sock like this one:

I’m up past the heel so now it’s just loads and loads of 2×2 ribbing around the calf, and then putting in the heel, and then my stash will be free of sock yarn. Mwahahahaha!
I have (as usual) about ten different projects I would really, really, REALLY like to cast on for right now. But I’m really trying to finish something first–the number of projects I have on the needles is starting to get overwhelming. So I’ve pulled this out from the back of the shelf it was relegated to for the past few months:

Honestly, I don’t know why I stopped working on this one–I was practically to the front neckline shaping, I’d already done the back, and the sleeves are going to be short so there’s really not a lot left. And despite the wool yarn, it’s not that heavy, so it’s still okay for a summer project. Or a summer project in California, at least. In North Carolina it might have been a different story. At any rate, I’ve just got the right half of the neckline left and then it’s on to the sleeves. I’m starting to get the new clothes excitement that always hits towards the end of a piece.
Gingerbread cupcakes, that is:

Topped off with a lemon buttercream frosting and a few pieces of crystallized ginger. I went a little overboard on the lemon in the frosting–you can see it curdled the milk a bit. But the tartness was a nice counterpoint to the cupcake bit. Which, by the way, was VERY gingery.
And very delicious, as evidenced by what’s left of them now:

Yes, I know, I haven’t posted in a while. Not since the disastrous chai latte cupcakes. This post is about something a little more successful:

Yes, that’s right–I finished something! Adult-sized! Let’s ignore the fact that it has no arms and really not much to speak of at all above the armhole area. It’s a halter top, it fits, and we’re having warm weather this week so pretty soon it’s going to get worn. Whee!
My cupcakes, that is:

These were the Chai Latte cupcakes, from (surprise) VCTOTW. I’ve already done the Earl Grey cupcakes, which are basically the same recipe, already. When I made that batch, I did not have the required soy yogurt, so I made something up, and they came out fairly well. This time, I DID have soy yogurt, and the batter was just way too wet. I sort of had my doubts about it while I was pouring, and when they came out of the oven…yeah. Not so good. The batter is delicious, however. So I think there is going to be a repeat attempt at some point, with either less liquid, more flour, or some combination thereof.
